Book Blitz : Right Fit Wrong Shoe by Varsha Dixit

Right Fit Wrong Shoe
by
Varsha Dixit

Blurb
Right Fit Wrong Shoe, begins at a point where all love stories end. The tale weaves around Nandini and all that is important to her, with two contenders gunning for the top spot; Aditya Sarin and Sneha Verma.

Aditya Sarin, the man Nandini is madly in love with, yet compelled, for some unsolved reason to shun.  Aditya, on his part, in the past declared Nandini to be a ‘millennium bhehenji (conservative girl)’ and ‘lassi (yoghurt drink) in a wine glass’. Yet he fell for her  . . . hard! However, some mysterious episode caused the lovers to, acrimoniously, part.

Now, Aditya is back in Kanpur,  all his guns blazing (the real and the imagined), determined to devastate her life. Fortunately for the readers, and unfotunately for Aditya, Nandini is determined not to‘bite the dust’ oh so quietly. Wonder, in the battle royal, who wins or who loses it all?

Sneha Verma, the other contender, is Nandini’s BFF, that one friend who knows us better than we do. The one we trust more than Stayfree or Clearasil. Sneha maybe headstrong, hammer fisted and stern mouthed, but for Nandini, she will willingly stand in the path of imminent lightning bolt or a nasty tornado, even if it’s named Aditya Sarin. In standard X, Sneha took Nandini under her wing and that equation hasn't changed much. Sneha, a recent wife and even more recent mom, appears to be fighting some unknown demons of her own.

Right Fit Wrong Shoe, observes and opinionates the society, affected and amused. It fleetingly touches on issues; fleeting as watching discourses (courtesy Astha Channel), is trendier and quicker, than reading them.

The book is an AAA (anytime, anywhere, anyone) read. It promises to make your day better, and a bad one not any worse.

A sensitive love story of a handsome and talented struggling painter Akash Saigal. What happens when he marries an extremely rich and beautiful artist and art investor Zenobia Taraporevala?

Prologue ( A teaser)

J J School of Art, Mumbai.
Taking a charcoal pencil, Akash Saigal started drawing the wood-and-stone structure, popularly known as „Kipling Bungalow‟. He was sketching sitting on a bench on which, in another era, K K Hebbar, M F Husain, Syed Haider Raza, Sadanand Bakre, V S Gaitonde, even Dadasaheb Phalke had sat with their sketchbooks, sketching the house where the author of The Jungle Book was born.
Ganpat Gupte appeared along with two of his gang. Gupte was the nephew of a minister, or so he claimed, and had the arrogance that comes with power.
“Ae Akash, kae karto?”
Akash looked up at the trio and said, “Nothing much. Just a drawing.
“Okay. What is the day today?”
“I should have known.Tere ko blue shirt hai na?”
Akash didn‟t get the connection, but Gupte‟s chamchas laughed knowingly.
The three boys sang in unison, “Monday, blue shirt. Tuesday, black shirt. Wednesday, blue shirt. Thursday black shirt. Friday, blue shirt. Saturday, black shirt. Sunday...laundry!”
If Akash was hurt, he didn‟t show it. He laughed sheepishly and continued sketching the bungalow.
But he would never forget this.

Book Review : Merjella by Yuvaraja Dhayanithi

Book- Merjella
Author- Yuvaraja Dhayanithi
Genre- Fiction
Publisher- Dreamblooms Media
Blurb-
Jella is different from other octopuses and only two people knew this, her father and Mimico. Jella along with, Qwerty and Bingo is all set to find out some answers and reach a distant land. But something happens in between.
Marina, a scientist, falls in a trap and meets Jella. She is in a great need to know what is happening to her at the present hour.
What happens when Marina and Jella join hands? What happens when Qwerty is far? Will the trio unite back to fight against the evils residing in Zypher?
Title-
The title suits the book. Merjella is the name of the protagonist in the story. And what’s better then it being the showman.
Cover-
Cover of the book is attractive. The story is like a fairy tale and the targeted audience is youth and kids, as mentioned by the author. Thus the radiant colours, pumped up image of the jellopus, Merjella, looks very exciting. The blue base suits perfectly to denote the watery aura.
Characters-
There is a vast range of characters in the book, or to be clear, creatures. You come across so many names and kinds of fish which the sea world possesses. The focussed ones are the Jellopuses and malojels. The terms are new and fascinating. Like human beings, the fishes are also divided as good and bad, supportive and offensive. It’s nice to read all the traits of these creatures.
Also, at the end of the chapters, author has explained the new fishes and words that might increase knowledge. Extra points for that. Out of all the characters, I loved Mimico, Bingo and Ryan.
Narration-
Third person narration, quite painless it was. The author seemed to enjoy what he was doing and that can be easily seen in the art of narration. It takes you ahead without any boredom. With every chapter, things become better and better.
Review-
Merjella is the story of a special kind of octopus, Jellopus Jella. The journey is on break and there comes a very vivid flashback from Mimico who is on a special task, assigned by Jella’s father, ruler of Zypher. The story starts at a normal pace, with no surprises, other than Jella being different from her thousands of siblings with a motive. The best part is the clear showcase of the antagonists in the story who are in action from the very start.
The story progress and suddenly there is an addition of Marina. The image of how Jella is transformed and how things get attached is something new and exciting. What I didn’t like is the way Marina’s story is forwarded; it becomes confusing as the time pass by. But what is nice is the way the connection proceeds in moving terms.
The best part of the book is when the things get sorted in Jella’s world. The fight of Jella is really breathtaking. And with every punch, with every knock down, with every cheating tactics, you start seeing the scenario with more clarity. The results are out and for sure it will leave a wide smile on your face. Jella and her story is the saviour of this book.
The story is framed to treat the kids and thus the short messages of loyalty in the form of Mimico, the message of friendship in the form of Bingo and Qwerty and the message of touching our target in the form of Jella are shown in the book. The book shows us that villains are often equipped with treachery and fall-means. But at the end nothing works. The message is nice and the entire book surely touches its finish line, neatly.
Eye-catchers-
· “...it take pride to create, not to destroy.”
· “I am being loved. I am being listened.”
· “...the time we spend thinking of the other keep our love alive.”
· “Rewards without wins are meaningless while wins with no rewards will still earn your honour.”
Turn-on’s-
The small notes at the end of some chapters were the highlight. The beautiful world beneath water was tremendously shown. It would have taken many many days of planning for the author. The fishes of different origin were a nice way to bring freshness. The villainous traits in some fishes were shown, the smarter ones were in vision too and the two extremist groups were brought up out of the box.
Turn-off’s-
As the end was approaching, the things got packed badly with one another. Two stories moving parallel can sometimes become hard to manage. The settings were shifting within the chapter and it didn’t work well.
Marina’s side of story was not up to mark. Many characters were not explained with precision. Thus they lost their significance, and at the end when they had important roles, you need to turn pages to know who they were actually.
Recommendation-
If old fairy tales don’t take your child or sibling to another world, then this book can help. Also if a kid inside you wants to take a ride back, then you can try Merjella.

Raj must find a way to lift the spirits of these five special travelers, even in the face of death and despair. Venture into the unknown and discover how Raj Touristry heals the brokenhearted, one soul at a time.

Excerpt
Dawn had risen over the historic Indian town of Agra. Agra was a city of monuments, which stood tall, their unmatched grandeur telling of their long and fascinating history. The morning air was filled with the sounds of roosters calling, birds chirping, and morning prayers and salutations. Dogs and cows were being hustled through the streets and errand boys on bicycles hurried along to their respective chores and deliveries.

Amidst this vibrant chaos, a man in his late thirties with an athletic physique, broad shoulders, and unkempt black hair was briefing his colleague in a quiet, affable tone. He held a bunch of papers in his hand, and the other man nodded obediently as he glanced through them, making notes on the pad in his hands. “So, are you all set?” inquired Raj, the black-haired man.

“I think so,” replied the other man confidently, as he took his seat behind the wheel of a mini-bus.

“Call me if you have any questions, Albert. You know where to reach me,” added Raj as he shut the door of the driver’s seat, giving his driver two thumbs up. Albert started the engine quickly and began to roll away from the curb. He was abruptly halted by a sharp knock on the door of the vehicle. The driver slammed on the brakes and looked to see who was doing the hammering. Raj reappeared on the other side of the glass with blank boards and a sharpie. Albert opened the door and reached out for the additional items. “Write the names of my birds on these planks. It will be easier for them to spot you,” explained Raj.

“Birds?” inquired Albert with a confused expression.

“Sure, Birds. Since they will fly back to where they are coming from in a week’s time.”

“Aha! Yes, boss!” Albert winked and started his journey.

Book Review : The Beckoning of Gyanganj by Chandan K. Pathak

Book- The Beckoning of Gyanganj
Author- Chandan K. Pathak
Genre- Fiction
Publisher- Leadstart Publishing. Frog Books.
Blurb-
Ravi is in love with mountains. He follows his desire to see nature’s beauty closely. But what he experience is unexplainable. One after other, something weird happens in his journey.
The people of Mayurpura are in great trouble. Swami Raghunath comes as a guide for them. But what makes him restless even after being a Siddha?
What does the different tales of Ravi and Swami Ji have in common? What impact one makes on other? What exactly is the tragedy of Mayurpura? Why Ravi is inspecting the story of ancient times?
Title-
The title is very interesting and is highly linked with the story. As you move ahead you realize what these four words “The Beckoning of Gyanganj” means.
Cover-
Superb cover, it tells you everything which the book contains. But also it makes you needier because it says so much and also hides the same amount.
Characters-
There are abundant characters to suit the reading experience. But the quality is in the diversity of characteristic features of every person who is a part of any chapter. You don’t see just normal people; you meet some very unthinkable characters as you proceed. There are appropriate amounts of antagonist and protagonist. Personally, I adored Akash, his villainous traits are shown without any unbalancing, the three saints and Princess Lata.
Narration-
The narration is smooth, without any issue of doubts. The author has left no stone unturned in making his reader comfortable, with this not so usual tale. The only issue I had was the lack of conversation and dialogues. I know that there was not much hope for that, but lengthy paragraphs one after other could have been broken.
Review-
The book starts with a normal tale of a boy who has just moved to another city. The passion in him never gets tired and thus he is out on one venture after other. But not everyone sees and feels what he goes through while noticing the beauty of the hills. Part 1 may sound normal to you but every story needs a strong base to work over and the case is same in this tale. The story shown in this part can never make you imagine what the next part has in store for you.
Part 2 suddenly change everything about the story. The protagonist changes too. Raghu is a sweet boy in his early years of life but he is not an ordinary guy from village. Destiny has made big plans for him, making him different from the rest of the world. The author has done a lot of hard work in making such atmosphere of bliss, which are shown around Raghu. But his path is also not very easy and thus he goes through vigorous situations to attain what his soul desire. Part 2 can make you think about what you are required to do in life and what kind of difficulties you might face due to fate’s play. And what are the loop holes to reach where you are wanted.
Part 3 again changes everything. An antagonist rules in this part. Again the atmosphere is new. Mayurpura notices the tyranny of its prime-minister Akash. The barbaric tales are narrated well by the author, not worrying about putting a lot of blood-shed in the way. The story shows various faces of people living in Mayurpura. Swami Raghunath is assigned with the heavenly duty of saving the place from the treacherous people. But he himself falls in the trap of destiny.
Part 4 is the climax of the story. And it’s one of the best ones you can imagine. It’s new and much unexpected. Mayurpura inspects the chain of incidents which no one had seen in past few years. The beauty of this whole book is that you can see things happening in front of you. And thus the sole work of a fiction novel is done beautifully by the author. The curtain is about to drop, there are few pages left and then you are told what this novel was about. Why the happenings were interconnected. How people were working and what specific role everyone had in someone’s life. The showdown is tremendously well thought of.
Over all, the book was a complete mixture of many genres, romance, pride, salvation, spirituality, wrath, imagination, devotion, trust and self-confidence. What takes this book to another level are the small details which author hasn’t forgot at any turn. A special mention goes to the editors for providing such revised and error-free copy.
Eye-catchers-
Not every book, every page and every phrase has the power to be powerful enough. But the beckoning of Gyanganj has endless phrases having beautiful images and vivid descriptions, one after the other. I had more than fifty eye-catchers, after excluding some. The novel is full of alluring images and beautiful explanations. Thus, I have to skip it.
Turn-on’s-
The best part of the novel is its flow. All the parts were well balanced and you don’t miss the characters from the previous part. Every part is fresh and completely new. The author knew where to break the strand and where to start weaving from. There are no errors, and that makes the novel a really nice pick.
Turn-off’s-
There were less dialogues and more narration. It is not a bad thing but long paragraphs may seem boring to some.
Recommendation-
Anyone who needs a break from general stories can pick this book. It will rejuvenate you.
